MetaKai Cookie Notice

This Cookie Notice explains how MetaKai, Inc. (“MetaKai,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies in our websites and applications (the “Services”). It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
1. What these technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. Local storage and similar browser technologies also store information on a device. These technologies can keep you signed in, remember choices, protect accounts, measure product use, and help the Services work reliably.
Some technologies are set directly by MetaKai or our service providers. If you choose a third-party sign-in option, the identity provider may use its own technologies on its pages under its own policy.
2. Technologies we use
Essential and preference technologies
These are used to:
- authenticate users and maintain secure sessions;
- prevent fraud, abuse, and cross-site request attacks;
- route requests and maintain service availability;
- remember whether you accepted or declined optional analytics; and
- store settings necessary to provide a feature you request.
Examples include Clerk authentication technologies and MetaKai’s mk_analytics_consent cookie and local-storage value. The consent preference lasts for up to 180 days unless you clear it or reopen Cookie settings.
Essential technologies cannot be disabled through MetaKai’s consent control because the requested account and security functions may not work without them. You can block them in your browser, but sign-in and other features may fail.
Aggregated traffic and performance measurement
MetaKai uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand aggregate page traffic, feature events, browser and device categories, approximate region, referrers, errors, and real-world performance.
Vercel Web Analytics is designed to work without third-party cookies and not to create a persistent cross-site profile. It uses a request-derived identifier that is discarded after a limited period and reports aggregated statistics. MetaKai does not intentionally send direct identifiers such as your name or email address in these events.
We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services.
Optional product analytics and attribution
If you choose “Accept analytics,” MetaKai may use:
- Mixpanel to measure product events such as page views, sign-in and sign-up flow activity, dashboard use, and feature interactions; and
- MetaKai first-touch attribution to remember the initial landing page, referral information, and campaign parameters such as
utm_source,utm_campaign, or similar identifiers.
Mixpanel may store an identifier and analytics state in browser local storage. After you sign in, consented Mixpanel activity may be associated with your MetaKai user ID and account profile information such as name and email address.
The mk_first_touch cookie lasts for up to 90 days. Mixpanel storage remains according to Mixpanel’s configured retention and until it is cleared, reset, or deleted under applicable retention procedures.
MetaKai does not initialize or send events to Mixpanel, and does not create the first-touch attribution cookie, unless analytics consent is granted.
No advertising cookies
MetaKai does not currently use cookies or similar technologies to serve cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising. If that changes, we will update this Notice and provide required choices before using those technologies.
3. Your choices
When the consent banner appears, you may:
- select Accept analytics to allow optional Mixpanel analytics and attribution; or
- select Decline to use the Services without those optional technologies.
You can change your decision by selecting Cookie settings in the Services. Reopening Cookie settings clears the stored decision and allows you to choose again.
You can also delete or block cookies and local storage through your browser. Browser controls apply per browser and device. Blocking essential technologies may prevent the Services from functioning.
4. Third-party sign-in
If you choose “Continue with Google,” “Continue with X,” or another third-party option, that provider may set or read its own cookies or storage to authenticate you and record your choices. MetaKai does not control those technologies. Review the provider’s privacy and cookie information before continuing.
5. Changes
We may update this Notice as technologies or legal requirements change. We will post the revised Notice and update the effective date. We will request consent again if required for a material new use of optional technologies.
